Phillips rodsr@oklahoma.net January 15, 2004, 2:02 pm Atlanta Journal, 10/30/1956 R.W. Carroll R.W. Carroll, 87, formerly of Atlanta and Carroll County, died Monday in Nashville, Tenn. Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Waco, Ga., Baptist churchyard. The Rev. B.W. Hancock officiated. Mr. Carroll was a member of the pioneer Georgia family for whom Carroll County and Carrollton were named. Before his retirement to Atlanta, he was a dairy farmer in Carroll County. He was a member of the Union Methodist church there. He lived in Nashville for four years. Surviving are a son, T.M. Carroll, Mrs. R.L. Phillips, Hapeville, and a brother T.O. Carroll, Atlanta. Additional Comments: T.M. Carroll is an error. This was Roderick Mitchell Carroll, the 4th son of Roderick Wallace Carroll and Josephine Rebecca Hamrick Carroll. The oldest son was Thomas R. Carroll, but he was deceased at the time of his father's death. Mrs. R.L. Phillips was Myrtle Pauline Carroll Phillips. She was one of Rod's daughters, who died February 5, 1964, in East Point, GA. T.O. Carroll was Thomas Oree Carroll, a younger brother, who died August 6, 1957, in Atlanta, GA. The Rev. B.W. Hancock was the minister of the Methodist Church in Hapeville, GA.
