Donnel Coleman, 44, of Jackson, Miss., and George Carol Barnett, 50, were indicted this week on two counts each of murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The two are accused in the shooting death of James Graham at Graham`s Villa Rica home. Barnett was ordered held in the Douglas County Jail following a probable cause hearing before local magistrate Dennis Blackmon. Police allege Barnett and Coleman went to Graham`s house May 24. They say Coleman got Graham to the door by knocking on it and asking to see Graham`s brother. Apparently, once the men determined Graham was there, Barnett shot him, according to the police theory. Barnett was picked up in Florida June 12 by members of the Metro Fugitive Squad and returned to Carroll County. Coleman was later identified by police as Barnett`s accomplice and found in Broward County, Fla., by authorities there on an outstanding warrant for a Jackson, Miss., armed robbery involving a home invasion. Other News No parole for man who killed student Parole has been denied for a Carrollton man convicted in 1988 of stabbing two West Georgia College fraternity brothers, one of whom died. George Mack `Chip` Walker, 38, was denied parole during a routine review of his case. Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles officials said the board set Walker`s next review for the maximum amount of time possible. That means he won’t be considered again until September 2009, said PAP spokeswoman Kathy Browning. Walker is serving a life sentence for killing Adam Frentheway, 21, and stabbing Michael Paulk, then 22. Paulk is now 37 and a major in the U.S. Marine Corps stationed in Virginia. He and his wife have two daughters, 5, and 1. He said he`s pleased with the board`s decision. `I think inmate Walker needs to serve his time,` said Paulk. `He was convicted. Now, I guess, he’s into the life sentence he got for killing Adam. He`s served his time for the aggravated assault on me. He needs to serve his time.` Paulk`s mother, Barbara Paulk, still lives in Georgia. She said she was relieved to hear of the parole consideration denial. Other interest Separated Civil War couple to be reunited A couple that was married and separated during the Civil War will be symbolically reunited, thanks to the efforts of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. During a ceremony performed by SCV Camp Forrest`s Escort at Liberty Christian Church in August, the camp uncovered information about the lives of Pvt. and Mrs. John Rigby, said Charlie Lott, commander of the camp. `It was pointed out to us that she sent her husband off to war and never heard from him again,` Lott said. `She lived out her life never knowing what happened to her husband.` Lott, who has a computer database of thousands of records during that era, found that Pvt. John Rigby joined the 35th Regiment of Georgia Volunteer Infantry Army of Northern Virginia in 1861, was wounded at Mechanicsville, Va., in June of 1862 and was captured by Union forces in Wilderness, Va., on May 6, 1864. Pvt. Rigby died of acute bronchitis in Elmira, N.Y., on May 4, 1865, and is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery. After finding where Pvt. Rigby was buried, Lott engaged the help of Bill `Yank` Templeton, who carries mail for the U.S. Post Office in Villa Rica. Templeton is originally from Elimra, and his mother still lives there. The plan was to take some dirt from Mrs. Rigby’s grave here in Georgia and place it on Pvt. Rigby`s grave in New York and then bring some dirt back from the grave in New York to place on Mrs. Rigby’s grave at Liberty.
