He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Villa Rica where he attended the Reba Roberts Sunday School class. He was a businessman in Villa Rica for over 48 years, opening his fist Sinclair service station at the corner of South Carroll Rd., and Highway 789 when he was 18 years old, after several yrs he moved two blocks west to the corner of East Wilson St., and Hwy 78 where he owned and operated the Shell Services Station and Tire Recapping Center. In 1973 he opened Smith Kawasaki on Hwy 78. He was a Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Yaarab Temple of Atlanta. He also served as a volunteer fireman and former council member of the city of Villa Rica. Born in Carroll Co., May 19, 1919 d/o of Charles Glen and Ethel Cater Lanier of Roopville, Ga. She was preceded in death by her only brother, Cyril Lanier. SMITH Evelyn Lynett Sheffield Smith, 72, of Lithia Springs, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002. Born Nov. 24, 1929, d/o the late Samuel William and Pauline Harden Sheffield. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and worked at the Buger Market. In addition to her parents whe was preceded in death by her husband, William Lewis Smith; sister, Louise Sheffield, and brother Charles Sheffield. Survivors: her daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Richard Wright of Villa Rica, Elizabeth "Libby" and Randy Morris of Bremen and Kim and Robbie Washington of Lithia Springs; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Buster Spence, Carol Garmon and Gwen and Jerry Thompson all of Douglasville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Earnest Sheffield, Buddy and Mary Sheffield, Ronnie and Jan Sheffield of Calif.; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
