Strickland, after an illness of nearly one year, passed to her eternal reward, bearing her afflictions with the greatest Christian fortitude. Sister Strickland was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Fielder, born December 14, 1855 and married to Dr. G.W. Strickland in 1872. While quite young she was happily converted and joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, making a very consistent and exemplary member all through life. She was a loving and devoted wife, making every one happy with whom she came in contact. She was constantly doing deeds of kindness for the poor, ministering to the sick, was a constant and devoted Sunday school worker, a great friend and supporter of the ministry and untiring church worker. Resolved, that while husband, mother, brother and church mourn the loss of our dear sister, we bow with humble submission to the will of him who doeth all things for the best. Note: Atha Fielder Strickland and her husband are buried at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Villa Rica, Georgia. Dr. Strickland was born on April 7, 1840 and passed away on April 12, 1915.
