Shorty Whitehead Dies Monday

Grover J. “Shorty” Whitehead, age 44, died Monday afternoon at his home, 105
Johnson Avenue, following an illness of several days.

Mr. Whitehead was born in Carroll County, Georgia, August 22, 1911, the son of
Oscar D. Whitehead and Genia Warren Whitehead.  He had lived in Carrollton for
about 13 years, moving here from the Aderhold’s Lake community.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Genia Whitehead; one son, Junior Whitehead both
of Carrollton.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the chapel of the Martin & Hightower
Funeral Home.  Pall bearers were Buford Shirey, Woodrow Shirey, Roy Shirey, Glad
Warren, Dewey Warren and Luther Warren.

Music was rendered by Miss Jean Adams and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Flournoy. Interment
was in the Bethesda Cemetery.
