Lyle, 1306 Dixie Street, Carrollton, Georgia. Both are buried in Stripling Chapel Cemetery in Carroll County. Enoch Silas Lyle was the son of Richard Calvin Lyle and Mary Ann Wood. Richard was a veteran of the Civil War, serving in Co. C, 34 Georgia Infantry until his capture at Vicksburg. Afterwards he returned to Carrollton and began acquiring farmland. At one time he owned about 1,000 acres just south of town. Richard and Mary Ann had three sons. Enoch Silas, Earnest Wood and Norman Powledge. All are buried at Stripling Chapel Cemetery. Enoch and "Sallie" lived in a large house directly across the road from Richard and Mary Ann. They made a living farming cotton and raising livestock. There were a couple of tenant houses on the farm where the sharecroppers lived. Later on, Enoch gave up farming and opened "Lyle's Country Store". A small building near the road in front of the main house. There was a small apartment in the back of the store where his brother "Earn" lived. He rented the farmland to a neighbor to raise crops to feed his dairy herd. Enoch and "Sallie" had three children. Ralph Powledge, Lena Virginia and Florence Caroline. Ralph died 3 July 1936. Florence was born 5 January 1897. She married Benjamin Franklin McPherson, known as "Frank" to all who knew him. They were married 11 June 1916 in Carroll Co. at her parents home on Dixie Street. Florence died 5 February 1979 in Carrollton and is buried at Stripling Chapel Cemetery. "Frank" and Florence had two daughters, Sara Nell and Mary Ann. Mary Ann was born 29 September 1922 and died 23 January 1971. Sara Nell was born 7 October 1917 and is still living in Carrollton in the Lake Carroll area. Sara Nell was married to Robert James "Rip" Bonner on 23 February 1936, in Heflin, Alabama. "Rip" moved to Carrollton from Standing Rock, Alabama as a teenager. In 1942, Sara Nell's grandfather, Enoch Lyle, gave her two acres of land on the Southwest corner of the homeplace for the purpose of building a home. They lived there together until "Rip's" death in 1971.
