Engagements


WEATHINGTON - DeRIEUX Mr. and Mrs. Danny Weathington of
Carrollton announce the forthcoming marriage of their
Daughter, Kelli Deanna to John William DeRieux jr., son of
Mr. and Mrs. John DeRieux Sr. of Ooltewah, TN. And Mr. and
Mrs. Gary Sheldon of Chattanooga, TN. The bride-elect is the
granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Marrow of Carrollton,
Ms. Louise Phillips of Whitesburg and the late Clifford
Weathington of Carrollton. Miss Weathington is a 1997
graduate go Carrollton High School and a 2001 graduate of
the State University of West Georgia with a BBA in
Marketing. She is employed with Julian LeCraw and Company in
Atlanta. The future groom is the grand son of Mrs. Elizabeth
DeRieux, Ms. Evelyn Long, the late Ralph DeRieux, all of
Knoxville, TN., and Mr. and Mrs. Bradford Long of Pittsburg,
Pa. DeRieux is a 1992 graduate of Ooltewah High School in
Ooltewah, TN. and graduated from the University of Tennessee
in Knoxville magna cum laude in 1997 with a BS in Civil
Engineering. He is employed with RA-LIN and Associates in
Carrollton. A late April 2002 wedding is planned at
Carrollton Presbyterian Church. 


PEEK - SABO Mrs. Karen Fuller Peek of Carrollton announces
the forthcoming marriage of her daughter, Kristen Elizabeth
Peek, to Jeremy Tyler Sabo son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeremy F.
Sabo of Carrollton. Miss Peek is the daughter of the late
John Ronald Peek of Carrollton. She is the granddaughter of
Mrs. Doris. B. Beckham and the late Robert L. (R.L.) Fuller
and the step-granddaughter of the late J.E. Beckham Sr., all
of Carrollton, Mrs. Jewel H. Peek and the late Howard Donald
Peek of Cedartown. The bride elect is a 1997 honor graduate
of Carrollton High School and a Dec. 2001 graduate of the
University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science Education
degree majoring in Science Education. She began graduate
studies at the University of Georgia in January 2002. Sabo
is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sabo of
Chester, ILL. and the late Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Guice Jr., of
Bremen. The future groom is a 1997 honor graduate of
Carrollton High School and a Dec. 2001 graduate of the
University of Georgia with a bachelor of Education degree
majoring in Sports Studies. He is employed by the Sports
Communication Office of the University of Georgia Athletic
Association. The wedding will be July 6, 2002 at Tabernacle
Baptist Church in Carrollton. 


BROOKS -CRAVEN Mr. and Mrs. David Brooks of Palmetto and
Mrs. Cheryl Marroquin of Carrollton announce the forthcoming
marriage of their daughter, Heather Ann brooks to Michael
Douglas Carven, son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Lee Carven of
Franklin. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Brooks, Bill and the late Gale Menscer, Mrs. Mary
Schwall, Majorie and the late Derwin Taber. The future groom
is an U.S. NAVY VETERAN. He is employed by Whitmire
Restaurant Systems as a Director of Operations. The future
groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Shelly H.
brown and the late Mr. and Mrs. Dolphus Craven. The wedding
will be Feb. 9, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Chalet Mountain Chapel in
Gatlinburg, TN.


MAY-TENDELL Robert and Susan May of Wedowee, Ala., announce
the engagemen and forthcoming marriage of their daughter
Leanne Rebecca, to David L. Tindell Jr., son of David and
Carol Tendell of Rossville. Miss May is a 1993 graduate of
Carrollton High School and graduated from the University of
Georgia in Athens in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree
in Secondary Education. She is employed by Lakeview Middle
School as a 7th grade math teacher. She is the granddaughter
of Hugh and Helen Davis in Rome and Doris May of Marietta.
Tendell Jr. is a graduate of Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High
School in Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga. and  graduated from the
University of Tennessee Chattanooga in chattanooga, Tenn.
With a Bachelor of Science degree in Multi-discipline
Education. He is employed by Lakeview Middle School as a 6th
grade math teacher. He is the grandson of Beecher and Evelyn
Dyke of Rossville and Fran Tindell of Chattanooga, Tenn. The
wedding will be May 25, 2002 at 6 p.m. at Ringgold United
Methodist Church in Ringgold, Ga.


REECE-HOLLOWAY Mr. and Mrs. Rickey Reece of Carrollton
announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their
daughter, Stephanie to Richard Holloway Jr., son of Susan
Holloway of Bowdon and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Holloway Sr. of
Bowdon. Miss Reece is a graduated of Carrollton High School
and graduated from the State University of West Georgia with
a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in December of
2001.  She is employed by West Georgia Center for Plastic
Surgery and by Wet Central Technical College. She is the
granddaughter of Mary Bearden and the late Guy Bearden of
Carrollton and Evelyn Reece and Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Reece of
Temple. Holloway is a graduate of Carrollton High School and
is employed by Viking Supply Net in Atlanta. He is the
grandson of Elizabeth Springer and the late Charles Springer
of Carrollton and the late Mr. and Mrs. Grady Holloway of
Fla. The wedding will be April 13, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Abilene
Baptist Church in Carrollton.


ODOM-SHIPP Mr. and Mrs. Charles Donald Odom of Fayetteville
announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their
daughter Lorelei Shell to Joel Kreston Shipp son of Evelyn
Ragsdale Shipp and the late Sheriff J.K. "Bob" Ship of
Dallas. Miss Odom graduated from Fayette County High School
in 1991 with honors and is a 1995 graduate of West Georgia
College with a B.B.A. in Management, now working for
Southwire Company. Shipp  owned Shipp's Music of Carrollton 
from 1985 until 1998 and is pursuing a degree in Middle
Grades Education at the State University of West Georgia. He
is a bass guitarist for Watusi rodeo. The wedding will be
Saturday, March 16, 2002 at Faith Chapel on Jekyll Island. 


ROURKE-WEAVER Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Rourke Sr. of
Douglasville announce the engagement and forthcomming
marriage of their daughter, Jill Marie Rourke of La Masa,
Calif. To William Christopher weaver of La Masa, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert  T. Weaver Sr. of Bremen. Miss Rourke is the
granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pollitt of Rhode
Island and the late John J. McMorrow Sr. and the late Mr.
and Mrs. Raymond Rourke of Newton, Mass. She is a graduate
of  Bremen High School and graduated from West Georgia
College with a BA in Mass communications and is currently
working for CBS affiliate in San Diego, Calif. Weaver is the
grandson of Jerry W. Brown and the late Elizabeth Brown of
Tucker and  Elsie E. Weaver and the late Roy R. Weaver of
Buchanan. He is a graduate of Bremen High School and
attended Jacksonville State University and graduated from
the Coast Guard Recruit Training Center at Cap May, N.J. in
1994. He is a Boatswain's Mate First Class and currently
stationed at the Coast Guard Station in San Diego, Calif.
The wedding and reception will be May 10, 2002 at the
Marriott Resort in Key Largo, Fla.



WEDDINGS RICH-GEORGE Rashawn L'Torya Richand James Cornelius
George, both of Jonesboro were married Dec 15, 2001 at
Cascade United Methodist Church in Atlanta. Rev. Chester R.
Milner Sr. and Rev. James E. Harris officiating. The bride
is the daughter of Wanda Rich of College Park, Ga. and the
groom is the son of Francine G. Harris of Douglasville.  A
groomsman was Varian Harris of Griffin and Jacqueline Harris
of Douglasville was a bridesmaid. Reception hosted by,
Tamisha Harris of Griffin et el. 

BROOKS-CRAVEN Heather Ann Brooks and Michael Douglas Craven
Married March 9, 2002 in the Centralhatchee Community
Center, 171 Nonomis Rd. Franklin, Ga. 



ANNIVERSARY Milfrod and Joyce Ballenger will celebrate their
50th wedding anniversary with a reception given by their
children and grandchildren on March 3, 2002 from 2 to 4 p.m.
at Salem Baptist Church fellowship hall, 1089 Salem Church
Road.
