Miss Strickland Weds Dr. Jaynes

Of much interest to their many friends in this city and out of town was the 
lovely wedding of Miss Floy Strickland, of Carrollton, Ga., charming daughter 
of the late Dr. and Mrs. J.M.L. Strickland, to Dr. Herbert Dennison Jaynes, of 
Knoxville, Tenn., which took place on Tuesday evening, November 18, at 6:30 
o’clock at the home of Dr. and Mrs. J.E. Cramer, aunt and uncle of the bride.

The bride, lovely in her wedding gown of white georgette over white satin, 
trimmed in real lace, her tulle veil caught with orange blossoms, and carrying 
a shower bouquet of bride’s roses and lilies of the valley, entered with her 
maid of honor, her sister, Miss Annie Strickland, who wore sky-blue chiffon 
over satin and carried pink chrysanthemums.  They were met at the altar by the 
groom and his best man, Dr. Selby Cramer, of Carrollton.  

The impressive ring ceremony was performed by the bride’s pastor, Dr. Gilbert 
Dodds, of the First Baptist church, the ring being carried in the heart of a 
beautiful pink rose by little Robert Cowart, of LaGrange, a cousin of the 
bride.  He wore a white satin suit.  

During the ceremony, “To a Wild Rose,” was played by Mrs. Smith and Miss 
Holderness.

After the ceremony there was a lovely reception.

After a short wedding tour of Georgia and Tennessee, Dr. and Mrs. Jaynes will 
make their home in Knoxville, Tennessee.
