Will of Richard Ruffin 02 Aug 1860 Carroll County, GA Will of Richard V.C. Ruffin - 1860, Aug 2 (probate 1861) State of Georgia. Carroll County In the name of God Amen. I, Richard V. C. Ruffin, being of sound and disposing mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this mortal life do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and in form following: Item 1st. It is my wish that I be buried in a decent and respectable manner in the burying ground attached to the New Hope Church. Item 2nd. Whatever portion of the Stock that can be agreed upon by my Executors herein after to be named shall be sold and the proceeds thereof shall be applied to the payment of my just debts and my portion of the crops that shall be made on the lot of land that I purchased of JOSEPH HARPER shall be applied to the payment of the debt due on said land. Item 3rd. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Elizabeth P. Ruffin andy my daughter, Margaret A. Ruffin and Sarah E. Ruffin and my sonss, Samuel S. Ruffin and Charles Ruffin the whole of my real and perosnal property to be held by them as joint owners and in the event of the death of my wife Elizabeth the residue remaining upon her demise to be equally divided among my children above named. Item 4th. I hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife Guardian of the personal property of my son Charles during his minority. Item 5th. I hereby constitute and appoint my trustworthy friend, Valentine M. Hodgson and son Samuel S. Ruffin as executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others heretofore made by me.
