He was born in Madison, Ga. to Thomas Theodore and Mollie Thomas Butts. He retired from the Okefenokee Rural Electric Membership Corporation after 45 years. He was a member of Camp Pinckney Baptist Church and the Charlton County Pilotís Club. He served in the U.S. Army for four years during the Korean War, receiving two bronze stars and the United Nations Service Medal. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine K. Butts of Folkston; two daughters, Theresa Ross of Palatka, Fla. and Pamela Barnett of Atlanta; one son, Thomas R. Butts of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two step-daughters, Gayle Register of Homerville and Valerie Bolin of Brunswick; one sister, Latrell Hosmer of Atlanta; and nine grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Camp Pinckney Baptist Church in Folkston with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery, Folkston. Arrangements are under the direction of Shepard Funeral Home of Folkston.
