It was near the old stagecoach route that ran thru Centre Village on the route to Kings Ferry Florida and was probably abandoned for a newer cemetery (Antioch)about 1/2 mile upstream..It is mostly referred to as the Gibson cemetery because of a memorial marker for John Ellis Gibson who was buried on a civil war battle-field...while the actual graves are James Joyce Leigh (his wife Mary Malphus is buried at Sardis Primative Baptist cemetery a few miles west),his daughters Emily B. Leigh Gibson and Beleen Leigh Hagin ,and his gandchildren Mary C. Leigh and James R. Hagin..there is also inside the plot's wall a broken marker belonging to a Evalina Johns. She is not though to be buried there but her stone laid there for protection from the abandoned area nearby File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/charlton/photos/tombstones/leighgibson/leighgib16600gph.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.8 Kb
