March 30, 1903 Savannah, Ga., March 26.--The grand jury in a measure did what was expected of it this afternoon. Indictments were returned against four defendants, two whites and two negroes, for conducting policy shops. The white men indicted were Charles Odell and Charles Levan, well known in sporting circles. Levan is the proprietor of a bar and restaurant and has been prominently identified with the Savannah Athletic Club.
