Neil Gildea, 80 years of age, died at 5:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his residence, 706 East Henry street, after an illness of four weeks. He was a native of Donegal Ireland but had been a resident of Savannah for the last fifty years.Mr. Gildea was one of Savannah's best known citizens. Years ago he operated the old Alhambra music hall in Broughton street and became widely known and popular in many circles. He had a number of staunch friends and had many generous parts.
     Surviving are four daughters, Miss Mary Gildea, Mrs. John Fischer, Miss Florence Gildea and Miss Elizabeth Gildea, all of Savannah; five sons, Edward C. Gildea, New York City; Joseph A. Gildea, Francis J. Gildea, Benjamin J. Gildea and James F. Gildea, of Savannah; one sister, Mrs. Catherine O'Brien, Philadelphia, and five grandchildren and seveal nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were incomplete late last night, but the funeral will be held Monday, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.Services will be conducted from the residence and at the Blessed Sacrament Church.
