GOODWIN Death: 1 July 1911 After a long illness, Rev. Alfred B. Goodwin, a retired clergyman, died at his residence, N. 118 Gordon Street, East, last night at 11 o’clock. Rev. Mr. Goodwin was born in Greenville County South Carolina, and was 64 years of age. He was ordained to the ministry in Florida, where he preached for several years. For the last twenty-five years he had been an invalid and on coming to Savannah to live twenty-four years ago he gave up the ministry because of his health. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in this city. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha L. Goodwin; four daughters, Miss Freda Goodwin of Savannah, Mrs. W. S. Saffold of Douglas, Mrs. J. B. Simpson of Ludowici and Mrs. W. K. Shank of Savannah; one brother and four sisters. The remains will be taken to Greenville County, South Carolina, tonight, the funeral and interment to take place there tomorrow.
