McKenzie, one of the oldest citizens of Savannah, died yesterday morning. He was born in South Carolina over seventy five years ago, but located in Savannah in early manhood, and by his skill as a wheel-right and his integrity of character made an enviable reputation. His shop on Montgomery Street, between Battle Row and the Bay, was a noted spot. Mr. McKenzie was during the latter years of his life a Past Grand, an active member of Live Oak Lodge No. 3 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and an attendent on worship in the Lutheran Church. Additional Comments: The newspaper article dated 8/21/1872 says that Daniel McKenzie died yesterday (8/20), but his gravestone at Laurel Grove Cemetery records the date of death as 8/21/1872.
