He was a member of the First Christian Chruch, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Disabled American Veterans. He was elected Veteran of the Year in 1966 by the Veterans' Council of Chatham County. He was a member of the Eagles, Local No 331, and was a former president of the local barbers' union. He had been state commander of the Spanish War Veterans three times. Surviving are a son, Philip A Meyers Jr, three daughters, Mrs Frank Hixon, Mrs Henry Wiehrs, all of Savahhan, and Mrs FWA Campbell of Charleotte, NC; a brother, Andrew Meyers of Jacksonville, Fla; a sister, Mrs Paul Lederer of New York City; nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
