"Ronnie” Sheffield, 65, of Pooler died Dec. 26, 2010. Born February 12, 1945, in Albany, he was raised in Savannah. He was the only child of Vida and Pearl Tomlinson Sheffield, who was a registered nurse from Lakeland and Lawrence Sheffield, a retired United States Air Force officer from Centertown, KY. He attended Savannah High School and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture. He served four ye years in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. At the age of 50, he he returned to college and earned a second degree in nursing from Abraham Ba Baldwin Agricultural College. He was a dedicated Hospice nurse prior to retirement. He was devoted to his C Christian faith and was an active member of Trinity Church of God. He had a l lifelong love of animals, nature and the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and g gardener. He will forever be remembered as a caring husband and father who had a a wonderful sense of humor and passed on to his family a love for God and the s simple beauties of life. He is survived by a loving family including his wife of 34 years, Joan Davis Sheffield of Pooler; two daughters, April Hope and Rhonda Elaine, both of Pooler; an extended family in both Georgia and Kentucky and many lifelong Sheffield of Pooler; two daughters, April Hope and Rhonda Elaine, both of Pooler; an extended family in both Georgia and Kentucky and many lifelong friends. friends. Funeral services were held at Trinity Church of God in Garden City on Dec. 29 at 1 at 11 a.m. A graveside service followed at Fender Cemetery in Lakeland, GA.
