                             Clyde Smith
 Clyde R. Smith, 63 of 23 Main St. in Garden City, died Friday at Candler 
General Hospital of an apparent heart attack.
 A native of Wrightsville, he had lived in Chatham County for the past 30 
years. A member of Chapel in the Gardens Presbyterian Church, he was a retired 
former owner and operator of Smith's Service Station.
 Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Merle Graham Smith of Garden City; a daughter, 
Mrs. Sandra Rice of Garden City; two sons, Bobby Smith of Savannah and Charles 
Smith of Mt. Laurel, NJ; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Helms of Jacksonville, NC, 
Mrs. Emma Smithon of Montgomery, Ala., Mrs. Sara Clayton of New Bern, NC, Mrs. 
Innel Mullins of Thomaston and Mrs. Clara Lee Brookshire of Columbus; two 
brothers, Robert E. Smith of Hilton Head Island, SC and James M. Smith of 
Millen; and 12 grandchildren.
 Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday at Chapel in the Gardens 
Presbyterian Church with burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
 Fountain Funeral Home is in charge.

Clyde was born 17 Aug 1908 to James Marion Smith and Ruth Elizabeth Hammock.
