He was born in Savannah on April 9, 1874. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Marie Sheffield Smith; four step- daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Witherington and Mrs. Cecile A. Hodges of Savannah, and Mrs. Clarence E. Hamilton and Mrs. Ruth C. Riden of Miami, Fla.; a brother, J. J. Smith, Denver, Colo.; a half-brother, G. K. Upchurch of Savannah; and a half- sister, Mrs. C. L. Wilcox of Memphis, Tenn. The body will be at the residence until the time of the funeral services, which will be held at Calvary Baptist Temple this afternoon at 4 o'clock. The Rev. Dr. John S. Wilder, pastor, will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery. Mr. Smith was a member of Savannah-DeKalb Lodge No. 3, Odd Fellows. He was also for many years a teacher in the Sunday School of Calvary Baptist Temple, and very active in the affairs of the church. Henderson Brothers Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be J. F. Hall, C. P. Thompson, Joe Anderson, R. E. Smiley, Jr., J. C. Reese, Jr., and J. E. Stevens. Additional Comments: George "Ollie" Smith was the son of George J. W. Smith of Effingham Co. and Anna Elizabeth McKenzie of Savannah. Two wives preceded him in death, Mary Agnes Bragg Morgan of Savannah and Emma Bunch of Summerville, SC.
