Crown Hill.  (Dec. 31, 1936 Edition)

[Note:  Horace was b. 1908, Savannah; d. 12-30-
1936, Denver.  His mother was Daisy V. SCHOLL
(first wife of Jesse Smith), b. 10-1878,
Savannah; d. 12-26-1915, Savannah.]

SMITH--Victoria Smith of 3849 Madison st.  Wife
of Jesse J. Smith; mother of Mrs. Ray Bowen,
Denver, and Mrs. Oscar Fox of Hamilton, Ohio.
Graveside services Saturday, 10 a.m. at Crown
Hill Cemetery.  (Aug. 16, 1957 Edition)  

[Note:  Victoria was b. 2-29-1880, Savannah; d.
8-14-1957, Denver.  She was the daughter of John
Owen SMITH (formerly of London, Eng.) and Sarah
Josette MOCK (formerly of Screven Co., GA) of
Savannah.]

SMITH--Jesse J. Smith of 3839 (sic) Madison st. 
Father of Mrs. Ray L. Bowen, Denver; Mrs. C. H.
Wilson, Savannah, Ga.; Leon O. Smith,
Charleston, S. C.; Mrs. J. M. Bandy and Mrs.
Robert Andrews, both of Gainesville, Fla.;
brother of Mrs. L. M. Willcox, Memhis (sic),
Tenn.  Graveside services Saturday, 10 a.m.
Crown Hill.  (May 8, 1959 Edition)  

[Note:  Jesse was b. 3-1-1879, Savannah; d. 5-7-
1959, Denver.  He was the son of George J. SMITH
(formerly of Effingham Co., GA) and Anna
Elizabeth MCKENZIE of Savannah.]


Other Information:  This family has its roots in
Chatham, Effingham and Screven counties.  Jesse
and Victoria Smith were married in Savannah 6-1-
1919.  Shortly after their marriage, they moved
to Denver, CO, with Jesse's son, Horace J., who
had contracted tuberculosis.  Jesse left his
four other children in Savannah.  They were
Jessie May (Bandy), Alma Christine (Andrews),
Leon O. Smith and Hazel Josephine (Wilson).
Jesse and Victoria had a daughter, Florence I.
Smith (Bowen), born in Denver.  Jesse Smith's
half sister listed in his obit (Mrs. L. M.
Willcox) was Annabelle Upchurch, formerly of
Savannah.
