A Great Man Gone

Col. W. T. Thompson, Editor of Savannah News, died at his home on 24th March. 
He was the author of "Major Jones" Courtship.  Chronicles of Pineville, Major
Jones, Travels, Live Indian Vicar of Wakefield, and many other small works of
rare value.  He has been Editor of Savannah News for over 30 years. 

It would take a volume to tell what this noble man has achieved.  No editor in
the south has accomplished so much of real value as Col. Thompson.  The citizens
of Georgia should build a monument to the memory of this good man.  We propose
to give the subscription price of one, for every 200 subscribers to raise this
monument. 

Will all the Editors of Georgia do like wise?  If so, with outside help it can
be easily done.
