After opening practically unchanged despite poor cables prices gradually eased off to levels 4 to 6 points below the previous close, but in the late trading practically recovered the loss. The market closed steady with prices net 1 point up to 2 points down.” Newspaper clipping (no date; publication not identified): “Mrs. Carrie Rowan Carrie was born July 23, 1901, and died Nov. 1927, making her stay on earth 26 years, 3 months and 13 days. She was sick only one week, and did not seem to suffer so much, although she had to undergo an operation. Sept. 14, 1922, she was married to Alvin Rowan, and lived a peaceful life until death. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and three small boys, the youngest being about two years old, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Robinson, two brothers, and a host of relatives and friends. She was loved by all who knew her, and made friends everywhere. She had a sweet experience of grace, although she did not belong to any church. We feel sure that our loss is her eternal gain. She was laid to rest in Empire Church cemetery, near Nashville, Ga. She has gone to meet her loved ones above, where we all hope to meet them some sweet day. Written by her broken hearted cousins. Alver and Mattie Kate Pate. R. 2, Doerun, Ga.” Newspaper clipping (no date; publication not identified): “Caroline M. Sizemore It is with a sad heart that we undertake to chronicle the death of our dear old mother in Israel, Sister Caroline Pate M. Sizemore. She was born October 2, 1840, and departed this life August 23, 1925. If the Lord had spared her until October 2 she would have reached her eighty-fifth mile-stone. On February 4, 1858, she was happily married to James M. Sizemore. To this union were born twelve children, seven boys and five girls. All survive her but one, whom she leaves to mourn her demise, together with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends. She, with her husband, joined the Primitive Baptists at County Line Church, Chattahoochee county, Ga., in 1878. In the year 1900 they moved their membership to Mt. Paran Church, same county and state, where she lived a consistent member the rest of her life. She was as devoted a mother as I ever knew. She was of a kind disposition, and very hospitable in her home. She always attended her meetings when able. She was deprived of this privilege about a year before her death, but was never known to complain at her lot. but bore her afflictions and disappointments with the greatest fortitude. She often spoke of how good and merciful the Lord had been to her. She was very much consecrated to the service of her Lord and Master. She is missed in her home, in the community, at her church; but we feel sure that our loss is her eternal gain. The funeral services were conducted by Elder H. H. Phillips and the writer in the presence of as large a congregation as I most ever witnessed at a burial, after which her body was laid to rest in the family cemetery to await the coming of our blessed Saviour. May Israel’s God comfort the bereaved family and help them to emulate the life of their dear mother, and at last bless them to meet her where there will be no more parting, no more pain or death, but one eternal joy.
