K. Rogers MR. AND MRS. W. F. COOK Walter F. Cook was son of Mr. Jas. M. Cook, who at one time could make a statement rarely true, that he and his eleven sons could make up a trial jury in this county. Mr. Cook's mother was Ann Boynton of Talbot Co., the record of whose ancestry has been traced for many generations. She and her husband were well known to all old residents as owners of Cook and Eelbeck's mill. Mr. J. M. Cook's popularity was attested by the fact that he represented Chattahoochee County in the legislature in 1873-74. A dozen years later his son W. F. Cook had this honor, which was his again in 1913-14. Another of the eleven sons, E. E. Cook was representative in 1907-08. Mr. W. F. Cook was a prosperous planter, later engaged in sawmill buisness, who attended to all the affairs of life, both public and private, in a creditable and satisfactory manner. He and his wife Mrs. Gertrude Patterson Cook typified the highest class of citizenship in this county—that class which it is an honor for any place to claim. Mrs. Cook, the youngest of the three Patterson sisters, all of whom were noted for their charming personalities and estimable Christian characters, devoted her time to her household and her church work. While she and Mr. Cook both died in Ocilla, Ga., the productive years of their lives were spent in Chattahoochee, from whence they sent a family of seven children into the world to carry forward the high standards they had raised here.
