A. Tyson M. R. HOLLIS Marlin R. (Mook) Hollis, b. July 13, 1891, is a grandson of Marlin Thomas Hollis, a citizen of Talbot and Marion Counties before he came to Chattahoochee after his marriage to Miss Mary Duncan in 1866, who lived at Duncan't Mill (Ida Vesper). Mr. Hollis had two sons and several daughters by his first marriage to Miss Martha King. One of these sons, Marlin Jr. with his family has resided at Fort Worth, Texas for many years. The other, Richard H. who married Miss Lula Miller, was the father of Chattahoochee's present representative. Mr. Hollis died on the last day of the recent session of the legislature of which his son was a member, voting for measures favorable to his constituents. "Mook" Hollis was in Medical Dept. Unit One during the World War. During recent years he has served as Deputy Sheriff, Justice of Peace, and Chairman of the County Democrat Executive Committee. He married Miss Emily Van Horn Dec. 27, 1925. They reside in Cusseta where both families are among the best known and most influential. In a quiet way Mr. and Mrs. Hollis do much to assist the less fortunate and are interested in the civic welfare of the community. Mrs. Hollis is president of the Parent-Teacher Association at Cusseta. Marlin R. Hollis' maternal grandfather, Mr. Hezekiah Miller, a fine mechanic, had a shop at Gobbler's Hill (Manta) which was well known throughout the country. There he had all facilities for making wagons and buggies, a blacksmith shop being an important adjunct of this industry. Although educated as a book keeper, Marlin R. possesses the same mechanical skill which he has sometimes put to practical use in the repair of motor-vehicles. His political career will be determined in the future. Additional Comments: From: HISTORY OF CHATTAHOOCHEE COUNTY, GEORGIA By N. K. Rogers Dedicated to KASIHITA CHAPTER U. D.
