Ch. of James H. and Leah Hall John: James Jr., (Dr.) Daniel, Martha (Mrs. Nathaniel Nicholson), Mary H. m. 1st John F. Boon June 18, 1840, m. 2nd Edmund Dillard, m. 3rd DeShazo; Levie m. and d. young; Sarah Elizabeth m. David G. McGlaun. Martin Luther Bivins m. 1st Martha Winifred Powell, dau. of William and Nancy Rice (Edwards) Powell. Nancy Rice Edwards was dau. of John and Barbara Edwards, two daus. who m. Jas. D. Wilson. Martin Luther Bivins m. 2nd Marthena Cox: Ch. Mary (dec'd.), Lizzie, (Mrs. W. E. Murphy, dec'd.), Luther, Joe (dec'd), Frank (dec'd.), Robert Lee and Sarah Leah (Mrs. S. B. Mardre). (Rev.) Robert Lee Bivins m. Mary Purser; they now live on Bivins plantation on Marion-Chattahoochee line. Mrs. Marthena Cox Bivins b. March 28, 1833, was five years old when her parents, J. Rowan and Polly Carson Cox moved from Upson Co., to Stewart Co. Ga. Other Cox ch. Jane m. Sam Molder; Mary Ann m. 1st Mr. Stone, 2nd Mr. Johnson: Missouri m. Wm. F. Molder (they spent latter part of their lives in Cusseta). John, James and Icabod. Ichabod Cox's family impressed the name upon the state as educators, and founders of Cox College. Ichabod Cox (grandfather of founder of the college) b. June 19, 1769, d. Oct. 26, 1861; was member of Baptist church 74 years and a deacon for 53 years. Dr. Miller furnished these data: Ch. of Ichabod Cox (wife's name unknown) of Green Hill, Ga., William, Tempie, Maria, Cary, J. Rowan and Malinda (Mrs. Zachariah Gordon), James Rowan Cox b. in Jones Co. Ga. March 8, 1799, d. in Stewart Co. Jany. 31, 1867. William Cox m. Sarah Hall of Pineville. Rena, (Mrs. T. B. Miller) only ch. lived to maturity; Tempie Cox m. 1st Harvey; several ch.; Maria Cox m. Earl Thompson, lived in Chattahoochee Co., six ch. viz: Eugene, William, Thomas, Milton (another son name unknown who moved to Miss.) Mary (Mrs. Swilling). W. J. Matthews (who m. Eleanor Shaw) son of B. F. Matthews, a resident of Chattahoochee Co. prior to 1879, lives at Moultrie, Ga. B. F. Matthews b. in Wilkinson Co. son of Wm. and Elizabeth Hall Matthews, who lived near him in Marion Co., moved to Auburn, Ala. 1879; about 1893 removed to Americus, Ga., where he d. 1899. B. F. Matthews m. in 1851 Elizabeth Wright, dau. of Samuel Wright, also from Wilkinson Co. Five ch. viz: Frank, d, while a student at Auburn, Evie (dec'd), Gussie, Wil-mot and W. J. Matthews.
