Enoch Osborne Brown b. F,eb. 25, 1828; d. March 22, 1885; m. first Sara C. Lowe b. May 12, 1831; d. May 27, 1870. Ch.: Rufus Enoch (dec'd), m. Emmie Stephenson (now Mrs. Emmie Fort of Lumpkin, Ga.), Alla, Lonie, Lucy (Mrs. S. H. Christopher dec'd), and Sarah who has been postmistress at Cusseta for about 31 years; her sister Lona was assistant until her death in 1929. Enoch Osborne Brown m. 2nd Georgia C. Davis b. April 22, 1840 d. June 23, 1919; ch.: Lizzie (Mrs. Henry A. Redding dec'd) had several ch. but only one reared at Cusseta, viz: Louise Redding m. Max Lassiter, July 6, 1926; two ch.: Maxine and Jane Lassiter; Willie (Mrs. Robt. J. Dixon dec'd), Edgar Leonard (dec'd) m. Mamie Horrey of Columbus; Peter Clifford m. Blossie Tompkins of Richland; two sons, viz: Peter Clifford Jr. and Rufus Enoch Brown; Claudius Pugh m. Sallie Jackson of Leesburgh; Charlie Lee (dec'd) and Verner Brown. Mrs. Georgia Davis Brown was dau. of William Davis and his 1st wife Elizabeth Gardner m. March 20, 1823 in Wilkinson Co. William Davis was active in the political affairs of Chattahoochee Co. during the decade beginning with 1855, when he removed here from Russell Co., Ala., having married 2nd Mrs. Rebecca Walker, widow of Jeremiah Walker b. Oct. 1. 1798 in Elbert Co., Ga., d. Oct. 25, 1852. The marriage contract between Wm. Davis and Mrs. R. Walker states he was a resident of Russell Co. Ala. and his grandson, Hon. Ernest M. Davis of Camilla, Ga. says he and his first wife are buried there at Salem Church ground. The tomb of his last wife beside that of her first husband, Jeremiah G. Walker at Cusseta, Ga. has this inscription: Rebecca Davis, consort of William Davis, died Jan. 3, 1868, aged 61 years. The Walker-Davis home was at place later known as Harp's Mill. The sons of William Davis who came with him to Chattahoochee Co. were B. Frank, James M. and Britten Ware. In addition to these three sons and one daughter (Mrs. E. O. Brown) mentioned, Col. Wm. Davis who d. in 1870 had eight other ch. who m. and lived in Ala. and Texas except William who m. Miss LaHatte. Benj. Franklin Davis b. Feb. 20, 1838: d. Oct. 30, 1907; m. Emma Pauline McLester, ch.; William, Benj Franklin Jr. (dec'd); Charles McLester, Herschel Victor, Crawford Lee, Dawson, Lawrence Grey, Maude Elizabeth (dec'd), and Grover Cleveland Davis. B. F. Davis Jr. m. Mary Caperton of Cowan, Tenn., two th.: Ruth Hortense and Maud Eleanor; Mary Caperton Davis m. 2nd William Davis; Herschel V. Davis m. Ruth Chappell of Jeffersonville, Ga. James M. Davis m. Josephine Shipp., ch.: Irene, Theodocia, Monroe and Mamie. Britten Ware Davis, a Baptist minister who was Capt. of Artillery, C. S. A., d. Sept. 20, 1915; m. Amzie Amanda Matthews, daughter of John L. and Frances (Herndon) Matthews, of Pineville, Ga. (Furnished by H. V. Davis) Both B. F. and Jas. M. Davis joined Co. C of 10th Ga. Regt. C. S. A. at Cusseta. B. F. Davis entered as a private, was made company clerk; later a lieutenant, then was promoted to Captain. He saw almost continuous service in the Virginia campaigns and was shot through the calf of the leg near the close of the war. He was crippled for a long time, but finally recovered from this wound. Jas. M. Davis was shot in the arm between the elbow and the shoulder. This bone had to be removed, so he was one man who could kiss his elbow. Britten Ware and Amzie Matthews had 9 ch.: (1) Margaret Lee m. James Black; 2 ch. viz: Ernest m. Harriet Bussey and has two ch. Margaret and Harriet Black; Lucile m. Frances Keelon; 3 ch. Wm. Francis Jr., Lucile Frances and Betty Jane Keelon. (2) Ernest Matthews Davis, m. Henrietta Brimberry; ch. Virginia, Ernest M. Jr., William Britten and Jas. Gordon. (3) Frances Elizabeth m. Westbrook Coley; (4) Britten Ware Jr. m. Anna Hannegan; 3 ch.; (5) Willie Pearl m. Lloyd E. Jones, 2 ch.; (6) Amzie Matthews m. Holcombe Derry; one son, Holcombe H. Jr.; (7) Nannie Lou m. J. B. Jones; 2 ch.; (8) Bennie Claude m. A. Cullen Richardson, 2 ch.: Frances Davis and A. Cullen Jr. (9) Lewis Gardner (d. infancy). H. V. Davis also says the father of Col. Wm. Davis was John Davis Jr. buried at Stone Creek Church cemetery in Bibb Co. Ga. and that Col. Davis' grandfather lived in Virginia; was Rev. soldier and a D. A. R. Chapter in Texas is named for him.
