E. Cook, of Plains, Ga. One of the first graves of a white settler made in what later became Chattahoochee Co. is on land now owned by C. N. King, There are two graves with marble tombstones in this particular field, a man and his wife. John O'Quinn b. June 13, 1754 in Halifax Co., N. C. d. Jan. 8, 1830; Rhoda O'Quinne b. April 3, 1767 in N. C., d. March 2, 1852. A dau. of John and Rhoda O'Quinn, Amelia, b. 1797, m. James Cook b. in N. C. in 1790 d. in Chattahoochee Co. in 1866; is buried on Redd place. Ch. of James and Amelia Cook: John Franklin d. Nov. 11, 1852, age 20 years and 9 months; left widow and a son, who moved west; ("Billy"), George William, another son d. about 1887. He lived near Hatcher's Station in Quitman Co. Ga.; Sarah A. H. Cook m. Henry J. Eelbeck Aug.'B, 1840. After her death H. J. Eelbeck m. 2nd Martha E. Williams; Parshamia I. Cook m. Charles A. Gorsuch Oct. 18, 1853; James Monroe Cook, b. May 12, 1828, d. Sept. 27, 1891. m. Elizabeth Boynton b. Jan. 8, 1834. (near Talbotton, Ga.) d. June 7, 1908. John Boynton, Mrs. Cook's father b. in 1800, d. in 1845 was sheriff of Talbot Co. Mrs. John Boynton was Miss Stinson. Ch. of James and Ann Boynton Cook: (1) John Augustus b. July 22, 1852; d. Feb. 7, 1897; (2) Walter Franklin b. Nov. 29, 1853, d. July 30, 1927; (3) James Monroe, Jr. b. June 11, 1855, d. Aug. 31, 1899; (4) Pauline Amelia b/Dec. 25, 1856, d. May 1928; (5) Charles Edgar b. Dec. 8. 1859, d. April 30, 1916; (6) Thomas Henry b. June 28, 1861, d. Dec. 29, 1889; (7) John Chapman b. Sept. 27, 1864, d. May 27, 1914; (George) William b. July 15, 1866, d. Georgia Ann Cook, who m. 1st Ben Johnson son of Samuel Johnson; 5 ch. viz: Willie Blanche, James Daughtery, Georgia Anna, Benjamin Stanford and Eugenia Johnson; Georgia Ann Cook m. 2nd Jas. Harrison Griffin July 1883, 5 ch. viz: jasper Harrison, Jennie Elizabeth, Emmett Ferguson, Zipperer and Clarence Griffin. Jasper H. Griffin is now (1932) pastor of First Baptist Church at Winter Haven, Florida. Georgia V. Eelbeck, only child of Sarah A. and Henry Eelbeck m. 1st James F. George; 2nd, John T. Johnson; 3rd E. G. Raiford. Her only child, Minnie Johnson m. Chas. A. George (a grandson of Mr. Mark George) May 14, 1885. 8 ch. viz: Charlie Dudley, Lollie K., Lucy, Minnie Ola, Jack, Mack, Mary and Catherine George. Emmet Eugene Cook (13) m. Miriam Elizabeth King, Oct. 27, 1906, on the 36th anniversary of the marriage of her parents. 3 sons viz: John Rufus b. June 27, 1908, m.
