Charles Fisher was one of Chattahoochee's wealthiest men during slavery days. His stately home on his plantation near the river 17 1-2 miles from Columbus, Ga., was burned in later years by order of county authorities after an epidemic of smallpox there. The first record found of land bought in Muscogee (Chattahoochee) Co. by Rev. Chas. Fisher was Dec. 28, 1838. From Fisher Family Bible. Rev. Chas. Fisher m. Mary Helms Oct. 2, 1810.
