Hezekiah Miller had a large shop for the manufacture of wagons, buggies and harness, located at Gobler's Hill (Manta). A. blacksmith shop necessary to the production of such was part of this .plant. His work was of such excellence that he was employed in partnership, with Jas. S. Allums to build the bridge across Upatoi creek in 1871 (official records show sums of money paid to Allums and Miller.) A camp was formed for the workers near by; a saw mill set up and all lumber selected with great care. Hezekiah Miller stayed at this camp during the entire time, this bridge was under consrtuction, superintending the work from day to day It is said by observers that the pins of hardwood holding the timbers together were in perfect condition when this bridge, was demolished, after the new concrete one farther downstream was finished. His son, W. E. Miller, inherited this talent and was a skillful worker with tools. He made several articles of furniture which prove him an artisan of high order. His blacksmith shop in Cusseta has been a place of unremitting industry for many years and is now owned by his son G. J. Miller, who uses it whenever occasion demands.
