John Orr in N. C. and moved to Ga. They were living in Washington Co., Ga. in 1827 when John Orr, soldier, drew two lots in original Lee Co. and came here in 1828. Census of 1850 gives names of Sidney Orr b. in N. C. age 52, Isaac Orr b. in Washington Co. Ga. age 25 and (his wife) Eliza Orr b. in Twiggs Co. age 22. Ch. of John and Sidney (Siddie) Osteen Orr: (1) Isaac Walton b. Dec. 14, 1824, m. Dec. 14, 1847 Eliza Mary Southall b. July 16, 1828; six ch. xiz: Albertus (d. about 8 years ago in Texas), (Dr.) John Orr, Ida (Mrs. Pace), Charles, Amelia (Mrs. R. P. Jarvis) and Mary (Mrs. Turner), b. 1864, the youngest of this family. All members of this family except Dr. John Orr of Ala. removed to Texas about 1876; (2) Mary Jane m. JES. H, Gilmore Dec. 28, 1843, 3 ch.: (3) Rooksey John m. Molly Osteen, 11 ch.; (4) Becky m. Wm. Hill, 3 ch.; (5) Mar-inda m. Ben McCarty, 5 ch.; (6) Thos. Jefferson m. Fannie E. Cumbie, 7 ch.. Isaac W. and Elizabeth S. reared in their home an orphan, Walton Osteen, who had two sisters Mary Jane and Amelia Osteen, Mary Jane m. her cousin Rooksey John Orr, Amelia m. Robert Persons. The mother of Walton, Mary Jane and Amelia Osteen died when they were small children; their father went to California during the gold rush and died of cholera on return trip on boat; is buried in Mississippi River. All Orrs were staunch Baptists and Mr. Isaac W. Orr a member of Summerhill Church, believed in tithing, and gave one tenth always to God. He lived to be 86J4 years old; is buried in Troup, Texas. His son Albertus taught school first in 1873; went to Texas in 1876, where he was a fine teacher. Another son, John is a dentist living at Union Springs, Ala. He says his father and grandfather lived about one and one-half mil.es from Cusseta on Jamestown road. Their mother, Eliza Southall Orr was related to the Gox family and her daughter recalls names of her cousins, the children of Mrs. Earl Thompson nee Maria Cox. Amelia Osteen (b. 1845) m. Robert Persons b. Apr. 11, 1845. His mother m. 2nd Thos. Locke Salter. Mrs. Georgia Fitzgerald Salter of Omaha, Ga. m. a son of this Thos. L. Salter by a former marriage to Mary Jane Dunham. Mrs. Susan R. Persons had three sons, Remus, Robert and William Persons by her first marriage. She and Thos. L. Salter had 4 ch.: George, Joe, John and Emma (burned to death at age of 8). (1) Remus Walton b. July 4, 1868, m. Eva Saunders; two sons Robert John and Roland Walton Persons; R. W. Persons is member of faculty of A. and M. College at Bryan, Texas; (2) Alberta Rogers Persons (Mrs. Ben H. Kelly of San Antonio, Texas) b. Apr. 27, 1870: (3) Anna Dawson Persons (Mrs. A. E. Porter of Beaumont, Texas) b.
