SURLES—JACKSON—HADEN

    Every one living near Cottage Mills about 35 years ago remembers the four
sisters, Mrs. Nancy Dodson, Mrs. Bowen, Mrs. Fleming and Mrs. Jas. H. Cook,
daughters of Francis Surls (Searls) one of the pioneers of that community.

    Francis Surles m. 1st ________ Wilson; m. 2nd Malvina Terry June 24, 1849;
clu: Susan, Georgia, Fanny, Hattie, Tom and Henry Surles.

    Georgia m. George Anderson Jackson, one ch. Joe who m. May Boswell; lives in
Birmingham. After Georgia's death, G. A. Jackson m. 2nd Susan Surles, two ch.
viz: Maggie (Mrs. Charles Waller) and Dell (Mrs. Walter Farr); Fanny Surles
burned to death; Hattie m. Jas. Michael Haden, (live in Macon. Ga.), 3 ch. Annie
B., Lila (Mrs. Guy Holmes), Eva Haden.

    G. A. Jackson b. April 10, 1845, d. July 15. 1925, m. 3rd Lula Haden Dec. 1,
1886. Ch.: Willie m. 1st Luther Green; m. 2nd G. C. Goodman; Jesse m. 1st Marian
Davidson; m. 2nd C. A. Lawrence; Geo. W. m. Edna Mullins; James Anderson m.
Agnes Campbell, live in Memphis, Tenn. Bailey m. Frances Gallops, Mary m. Grady
C. Davis.

    Parents of George Anderson Jackson, well known as a miller in this county
for many years, were William and Mary (Henry) Jackson.

    Mrs. Lula Haden Jackson's parents were William Larkin and Sarah Ann
(Mallory) Haden who moved from Stewart to Chattahoochee Co., living on several
farms near Jamestown.

    Their ch. Julia Ann (Mrs. Wm. Dudley Ray), Lizzie, (Mrs. George Pryor)
William, Jas. Michael, Margaret, Lula (Mrs. G. A. Jackson b. Dec. 3, 1865), Ella
(Mrs. Wm. Graves, lives in Birmingham, Ala.; Joel, Thomas (dec'd). m. Edith
Roberts, their family live in Columbus, Ga.; Archie m. Annie McBride: Emma (Mrs.
Will Patten) lives at Jackson's Gap, Ala., and Stephen Harris Haden m. Jamie
McCord, lives in Atlanta.
