TOLBERT—DODSON 
(Data furnished by Miss Vivian Tolbert of Midland, Ga.)

    Following are names of Tolbert family whose father moved to Ga. about 1797.

    Philip, Harmon, Hezekiah, Jason, Joseph, Frank, Allen, and Keziah, who
married ______ Jones of Girard, Ala.

    Philip, Harmon and Allen Tolbert were in the Confederate army.

    Allen S. Tolbert m. Vernell Lane, Dec. 16, 1869. Vernell Lane was dau. of
Bonnie and Mary Scoggins Lane.

    Another dau. of Bonnie and Mary Scoggins Lane is, Ophelia, m. Frank Bland
and is living (1933).

    Ch. of Allen S. and Vernell Lane Tolbert: (1) Lane Y. b. 1871; m. Carrie
Snellings (dau. of Robt. Ross and Lenora Johnson Snellings) Dec. 25, 1895. (2)
Lee H. b. 1873, m. Grace. Burgess; lives in Oklahoma; (3) Luther A. m. Mary
Crane. Lives in Paris, Texas; (4.) Lon Tolbert m. Maude Dodson. Lives in Paris,
Texas; (5) Ed Tolbert (dec'd); (6) Nan Tom Tolbert m. Roy Bagley (dec'd); lives
in Okla.; (7) Wheeler H. m. Love McDuffie, dau. of Dr. and Mrs. J. H. McDuffie;
(8) Tana m. Idus Murrah; lives at Paris, Texas; 2 ch.: Margaret and Tolbert
Murrah; (9) Zona m. Vasco Paty; lives at South Bend, Ind.; (10) Jessie m. Claude
S. Woodward; lives in Texas.

    Ch. of Lane Y. (1) and Carrie S. Tolbert: Clarence A. b. Oct. 28, 1896; Lane
DeVon b. June 29, 1901; m. Louise Skinner, Aug. 16, 1926; lives in Columbus, Ga;
Myrtice b. Nov. 14, 1903; m. George Elmer Skinner, Sept. 1, 1928; one dau., Nina
Mell Skinner; Carrie Vivian Tolbert b. Dec. 5, 1906; Walter Snellings b. July
25, 1913; Nora Mell b. June 14, 1917.

    Roy and Nan Tom Tolbert Bagley had a dau. m. Major Deane. Their dau. Neysa
Mell Deane lives at Broken Bow, Okla. Ch. of Wheeler H. and Love McDuffie Tolbert.

    Wheeler H. Jr., James, Jack, Archie, Edward Allen (dec'd) and Stokes Munroe.
They live in Columbus, Ga.

    Samuel A. Dodson and Catherine V. Dent Dodson had eight ch. (all living in
1931) b. in Chattahoochee Co. (1) Mervyn, m. Susie Cooksey. Ch.: Eva and Nell
Dodson; live at Omega, Ga. (2) Lawson, m. Lula Tinner; three ch., live in Texas.
(3) Maude m. Lon Tolbert in Chattahoochee Co., Dec. 18, 1904. Ch. Kathryn (Mrs.
L. W. Matthews and Cecil (dec'd). (4) Fred m. Mattie Pilkinton in 1914. Ch.
Frederick Jr., Roy-Julia (Mrs. Barker) 2 ch. Valeria and Gloria; Fanny m. D. E.
White, ch.: D. E. Jr. Dan Dodson and Mary, who live at DeLand. Fla. (8) Custis,
m. lives in Atlanta, Ga. Samuel Dodson's father.Wm. b. Jan. 1, 1808. d. Dec. 18.
1876. m. 1st Helen Phelps, Aug. 7, 1845. d. 1862; m. 2nd (Mrs.) Nancy Parkman
(nee Surls) Aug. 7, 1864; Mrs. Nancy Dodson d. in 1908.

    Samuel and Cicero Dodson were sons of Helen Phelps Dodson. Charlie, Hattie
(Mrs. Davis) Mattie m. 1st Jack Bartlett, 2nd, Frank H. Chitwood, and Alice
(Mrs. Arthur Cunningham) were children of 2nd marriage.

    Mrs. Hattie Davis' ch.: Etta, Ethel and Frank, Mrs. Alice Cunningham's ch.:
Anna, Will, Tom, and Dora (Mrs. Luther Wilder). Luther E. Wilder b. June 7, 1877
near Cusseta, in. Nancy Eldora Cunningham b. Feb. 19, 1889 near Harp's Mill; two
ch.: Alice ElDore b. in 1907, and Anna Belle b. Nov. 28, 1908, who m. Jamie Lowe
Taylor b. May 24, 1903 in Barbour Co., Ala. (in medical dept. of U. S. Army);
two ch.: Jamie Lowe Jr. b. March 24, 1929 and Luther Emmet Taylor b. Sept. 6,
1931.
