LETTER
Julia Ann Haden Ray



This letter was written by Julia Ann Haden Ray.  Her
husband was William D. Ray aka "Dud".  Also in the letter
is a note written by their daughter Sally Ray who was
living with them at the time of the letter.  Sally Ray
later married Quintiller Filetus Foster Jan 29, 1911 in
Columbus, GA.  The children Julia A. Ray was writing to
were probably James Joseph Ray, Benjamin Thomas Ray,
George Henry Clay Ray, Freddie Mae Ray, Marion Franklin
Ray, Abbie Preston Ray, Douglas Phillip Ray and Stephen
Ellis Ray.

My Dear children I will try to answer yore welcom letter
recieved some time ago  Was glad to hear from you but
sory to no you was not well  this leavs all well as comon
I might to hav written before now but hav bin waiting to
see some way to send yore bundle  Dud ses he will go to
town in a week or 2 and I will send them to Mr L. A.
Scabroughs and you can get them from thir  you said I
must come and see you when you marry (?)  I want to no
whar you are going to too  I will come if I can when you
get sick if I can no when that is going to hapen  I will
stay a while if I can get thare  We are nearly done
gathering the crop mad suryp last week 100; 20 galons  I
wish you both culd hav bin hear to drink juse and lick
the foam  let me no when you get sick whare you are and
will try to come  so by by for this time

I haven't any news worth writing.  We have bin quilting
my finger's is so soar I can't hardly write  We made
syrup this weak  we made 100.20 galons  Well I will close
