This is near Menlo. The Forces came from Canada and New England, [I have traced them back to New Jersey]. In 1844 Lewis Miller Force bought land from John Lamar located west of Alabama Road and south of Ami Road. Lewis and his brothers built a Seminary for girls at or near Alpine. Lewis's mother Elizabeth is buried in the Alpine Cemetery and on the other side of her stone is a monument to her husband Benjamin who died in Savannah. Lewis Force also has a monument at Alpine, he died in Charleston, SC of Yellow fever. Lewis' brother Samuel Freeman Force is my ancestor, he and his wife Catherine are supposed to be buried in the AMI Cemetery in unmarked graves. I would like to thank a Mr. Smith who provided much of this information in a booklet that I found in the Chattooga Co. Library. Before I found that booklet I didn't know of this part of my ancestry. My Grandfather's middle name was Force and he told me that was his grandmother's maiden name, that was my only clue. The Force Family 1. Mathew Force b. 1642 in Middlesex Co., NJ; m.
