Pennycuff and William L. Stephenson (WoodArt@one.net) This small cemetery is locally referred to as the Wood, or sometimes Horton, cemetery. It is located about a mile walk from the end of Valley Spring Road on the north side of the trail road in Shinbone Valley of Chattooga County. The cemetery is quite small with only twenty or so small stones with readable inscription. The cemetery is surrounded by barbed wire attached to the trees to prevent animals in the adjoining pastureland from damaging the site. The cemetery does not appear to be maintained in any way. Due to the remoteness, it could soon fall into the category of lost and forgotten burial grounds. We hope that by recording and publishing the site, the data will be available for future generations searching their family history. Sarah J.
