BULLOCK-(WELLS or WILLS) - Jones Co. 1820 Census

EDWARD-Va. Bounty Warrants:  EDWARD WILLS, Capt., cert. - Herod GIBBS, late Lt., Wm. DAVENORT, late sgt.  Affadavit: Union Dist., SC.  See Papers of Wm. PENTECOST, 1811.  
PENTECOST PAPERS: Matthew ARTHUR swore on 4 Sept 1811 in Franklin Co., GA, that he knew that Barnabas ARTHUR was Lt. in Va. Continental Line, 5th Va. Regt.  Wm. DAVENPORT swore on 18 Aug 1811 that he knew EDWARD WILLS as LT. & CAPT. of 14th Va. Regt, Continental Line, enlisted 1776 and served upwards of 3 years.  Herod GIBBS deposed in Union Co., SC, knew WILLS was a soldier.  Maj. Richard WORSHAM of Wilkes Co., Ga, in 1811 swore that he knew Barnabas ARTHUR was a soldier.  EDWARD WILLS, in Jackson Co., GA, 1811, swore that Barnabas ARTHUR was a Lt. in the Revolution.

ELIZA-“Southern Christian Advocate”, 27 Dec 1855 -Died in Jackson Co., on 11 Nov 1855, Miss ELIZA WILLS, aged 20.

	Forsyth Co. 1850 Census, # 881:  LEONARD - age 101, farmer, b. GA (but place dittoed), with SARAH - age 80, b. NC.  (Note:  This man is probably the same who was in 1790 Edgecombe Co., NC, and  1820 Greenville Co., SC)

MARIAH - MARIAH DAVIS m. JAMES T. (or Q.) WILLS in Monroe Co., 25 Mar 1825.  Is she the same person who sold land in Lee Co., AL?  Lee Co. Deed Bk C/310 - 16 Dec 1868 - 13 Jan 1869 - 35 ½ a., S.W. corner of Sect. 13, Township 18, Range 26, for $230.00 to Edward PARKINSON.

MATTHEW - DAR National # 51568:  MATTHEW, Rev. Sol, b. England, 1757, d. SC, 1814.  Pvt., SC Militia, m. Sarah ABNEY, b. 1755.  Their son, MATTHEW, JR., m. Mary COLEMAN.  Grandson, ELDRED JONES WILLS m. Isabella MERCHANT.  (Note: MATTHEW was in Edgefield Co., SC, and had several transactions with members of the DAVIS family. I believe ELDRED JONES came to Ga.)

ROBERT-1850 Census Meriwether Co., # 893 - age 26, b. GA with SARAH G. - 26;  GEORGE A.-  5 ; FRANCIS (male) - 2.  (Note: at # 889 was Wm. WELLS - 58, b. Ga, with Caroline - 50.  At # 918 was Wm. DAVIS - 35, and at # 948 was another Wm. WELLS - 46.)

S.A. - Mrs. S.A. WELLS of Russell  Co., Ala., to W.B. SHORT of Marion, the east half of Lot # 172, 10th Dist., Chattahoochee Co., Ga, bought by me from J.B. WALKER.  Chattahoochee Co., Ga. Deed Bk F/163, dated 30 Apr 1896.  Signed by Mrs. S.A. WELLS, James C. WELLS.  Wit.: T.L. GORDON, T.C. ROBINSON.  (Note:  Could this be SADOCIA ALLEN, who m. JOHN W. WILLS in Muscogee Co. 25 Nov 1865?)

SALLY - Daughter of John MOUTRAY, in his will dated 25 Nov 1795, Warren Co., Ga.  His other daughters were: Cassandra MOUTRAY, Nancy RHODES, Leah CARTER, Mary PEAVY.  His sons were: John, Joel, Lewis.

THOMAS DICK - Query in DAR Magazine, June-July, 1984, from Mrs. L.C. Bower, 8406 Glencross, Houston, TX 77061:  Need info on LEYLA WILLS BOWER,b. 6 Sept 1877, Montgomery Co., TX, dau. of THOMAS DICK WILLS, b. Macon, GA 1846, and Rowena HAMPTON, b. Macon, 1847, all died in TX.  

THOMAS F. - Capt., Hancock Co. Militia - 15 May 1818 - 28 Jan - 1820

THOMAS J.-Son of JOHN W. and SARAH (DAVIS) WILLS - b. 15 Jan 1839 near Burlin,  Russell Co., Ala., was living in Harris Co. when 1850 census was taken, died 11 Apr 1920 at River View, Ala.  He enlisted 16 Sept 1861 in Co. A, Anthony Grays, 60th Ga. Vol. Infantry Brigade.  Captured at Gettysburg 3 Jly 1863.  From Confederate records in Alabama, he was later 1st corporal in Co. E, 2nd NC Battalion. Enlisted in that outfit in Richmond.  Was in service until end of war.  He was married twice, first to Elizabeth Brown 26 May 1859.  She died 18 Feb 1891 and he m. (2) IDA L. GLASS 12 May 1892 in Troup Co., Ga.

BRYAN.  p. 277 - Friday, 30 Nov 1810 - On application - Ordered that passports be prepared for the following persons to travel through the Creek Nation of Indians, to wit, one for Mr. John HARWOOD, with his wife, three children and eight Negroes - one for Mr. Dread DAWSON, with his wife, three children and eleven Negroes, and one for Mr. WILLIAM WILLS, all from the County of Richmond in this state which were severally presented and signed.

WILLIAM A.  - Voted in Meriwether Co. 7 Nov 1848.

WILLIAM - From History of Troup County, by Smith:  WILLIAM WILLS, 60th Ga., was killed at Gettysburg 1 July 1863.  (NOTE  from V.W.A.:  THOMAS JEFFERSON WILLS, son of JOHN W. WILLS, was also in the  60th Ga.  There is a marriage for WILLIAM D. WILLS to SUSAN R. GLASSGOW, Troup Co., 27 Sept 1858, by Peter ROWLAND, MG.  When the  1860 census of Chambers Co., Ala., was taken, this couple was there - his age was 21, b. Ala., and her age - 26, b. Va.  A marriage in Chambers Co., Ala. Dec. 9, 1866, is for SUSAN R. WILLS to BENJAMIN F. DAVIS, by F.B. HALLADAY, JP, at residence of Nathaniel DAVIS.

WILLIAM H.  - Pike Co. Deed Bk F/175 - 1 May 1839 - 18 May 1840 - Elizabeth GRAY and Seaborn B. GRAY of Chambers Co., Ala., administrators of James B. GRAY, late of Pike Co., selling LL 230 to WILLIAM H. WILLS.  Wit.: Jesse B. VOUD, Clement FORBES.

	Living nearby were Moses D. WHITE & family & families of  Joseph & John DAVIS.

	1850 Pike (almost illegible)  WM. H. - 56, farmer, b. VA, with JEWITT (fem.) 31; JULIA A. - 					22;  ALBERT - 20  laborer;  MARTHA A. - 12;  	 

WILLIAM M.  - Co. B, 20th Ga. Inf., b. 1844 Harris Co., d. 13 Dec 1861 at Manassas, Va., in camp, of typhus fever.  (Roster of Confederate Soldiers of GA, Vol. II, p. 776,783).  Son of JOHN W. & SARAH (DAVIS) WILLS of Harris Co.  His father was in same Regiment.
