Father's wound is not doing as well as it has been doing. The wound look healthy enough, but his arm is swolin (swollen) very much. The wound is nearly healed, but he fears it is going to break out on his arm. One spot on his arm is hard and look red and firely and itches like his fingers did, he is real stout and eats real hearty and look better in the face, then he has in a long time. The crops look sorry. The corn look very weak. Cotton has not come up very well yet. I reckon it will come up now it has rained. Oats are sorry and so is wheat. Our garden looks well, we will have potatoes soon and a ____, put out 550 potatoes plants yesterday evening and will put out more this evening. We are nearly through sitting out cabbage plants. They look well, but the cut worm nearly riddle them. All sister Mollie's family are down with measles. She has been real sick, but is better now. "___" goes over ther everyday so see how they are getting along. None of us have even tak (taken) measles yet. Dr. Underwood thought I was the first of the week, but I haven't yet. Dr. is coming twice a day now. He is somewhat uneasy about him and doc. will be down in a few days. I have not seen any of the ___ Cellar people since Grand paw left. There is a good deal of sickness in the neighborhood. There is two or three in early every family, and in some all, mostly measles. We are having some very pretty weather now. We are going to have fried chicken before long. You had better come over and spend the day with us. I am cook now. I know you would get something nice. Ma has to be with Pa most of the time consequently I am Mistress of Ceremonies. I have just finished reading a letter from Miss Mary Sutton, one of my old school teachers, who used to board with us. She has invited me to spend the summer with her, but I will give her to you for a sweetheart. Charlie (Charles Knox, Lula's brother) is as fat as a pig and just as smart as can be. How is Bert (Mitchell's brother). I would like to see him. Lula (Lula Knox - 1st Cousin) I hope you have a nice time today from now all the conversation. Oh how I wish I could be there, that way I would have a good time. I have not been society circle since I came home. Father has been sick all the time and I have not been out any. Give my love to all and tell Aunt Martha (Martha Strickland Pool) I think she might ____ to answer letter. Much love to all and _______.
