This file was contributed by: Bill Stephenson woodart@srbfl.com ==================================================================== Obituary - Clyde Bennett, 72, of Route 1, Lyerly (holland Community), passed away Sunday April 6, 1980, at 4 a.m. Mr. Bennett was born in Chattooga County on Sept. 5, 1907, son of the late James Jackson Bennett and the late Lottie Green Bennett. He was a deacon and member of New Hope South Baptist Church, and was a retired carpet mill employee. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Clemie Stephenson Bennett of Route 1, Lyerly; one brother, Ivron Bennett of Summerville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, April 7; at 2 p. m. from the chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Atkins and Dr. Jack Colwell officiating. Interment was in Lyerly Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Allan Green, John Green, Woodrow Green, Bob Brison, Paul Brison, Richard White and Thomas Strawn. Lane Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. ________
