Summerville, May 11, 1919. Mr. Kellett was born in S. Carolina in 1837 and moved here in 1837 being only 5 months old. He was a clever big-hearted man, one of the few surviving, much honored and beloved Confederate Veterans. He entered the War in 1862 in Co. I, 4th Georgia Calvary. He was with Gen. Forrest on special detail in "Straight Raid". He was captured and spent 20 months in Federal Prision, Camp Douglas, Chicago, Ill. He refused to take their oath and had to spend his full time in prison. Mr. Kellett married Miss Amanda Wilder in 1858. To them were born 14 children, 10 of whom are living now. He reached home May 1865, from the war and went to work the next day. He was a great worker, lived for his family and did what he thought was best for them. The funeral services were conducted in the yard at the family residence by Rev. H.H. Cornell, Monday afternoon at 2 O'Clock in the presence of a large gathering of sorrowing friends and relatives. The Pallbearers were Confederate comrades except Col. C.D. Rivers. They were Capt. W.M. Rich, Messrs. T.P. Henry, Tom Maxey, T.K. Weathers, G.U. Warshen, Col. C.D. Rivers. Interment was made at the Johnson Burying Ground by five sons, Messrs. Most Kellett, of Oklahoma, Joe, M.A., Hershel, and Russell Kellett of this County, and four daughters, Mrs. Bama Leach, Mrs. S.M. Patterson of this place, and Mrs. Dora Goodering of Rome, and Mrs. Bob Moss (Beulah) of Oklahoma, and by a large number of grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
