The Summerville News, June 19,2003

Mrs. Mary Knox Beavers Weems, 91 Martin Street,Summerville died Tuesday at her 
residence.
Mrs. Weems, a native of Chattooga County,a direct descendent of pioneer 
settlers of this area.  She was born to the late William Know and Daisy 
Arvezine Echols Beavers on November 20, 1911.  Mrs Weems was a founding member 
of the Firs Presbyterian Church PCA, retired from the U.S. Postal Service, a 
member of the Chattooga County Historical Society, and a member of the Business 
and Professional Womens Club.  Her husband, Howard Weemsand sister, Reo Beavers 
and Betty Beavers Wood died earlier.
Surviving are a niece, Amy Huckaby, Athens,a nephew, Frank Wood, Summerville 
and great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church P.C.A with Dr. Dan 
Steere officiating. Interment in the Summerville Cemetery.
