Lewis Herman Smith, age 85, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 8 at a local 
hospital.  Mr. Smith was born Nov. 18, 1917, Lyerly, the son of the late Wm. 
Henry Smith, Sr., and Elizabeth Maxwell Smith.  Prior to retirement he was 
employed at Berry College after 32 years of service as manager of printing 
services.  Mr. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rome.  He 
served as deacon and Sunday School teacher.  Mr. Smith was preceded in death by 
his wife, Imogene Gaddy Smith, on Nov. 26, 1987.  He was also preceded in death 
by a sister, Bessie Smith Fletcher.  Survivors include three sons, James 
Steven, of Nashville, NC, Charles Stanley of Raleigh, NC and David Stuart of 
Rockmart GA. and six grandchildren.  Also two sisters, Margaret Webb, Roswell 
and Vera Hillis, Humble, Texas, one brother, W. H. Smith, Jr. of Lyerly.  
Interment Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, Rome, Ga.
