Stephenson (Laura Hazeltine White) was called home to rest, after being sick a short time with pneumonia. She leaves a heart-broken husband, six children and a large number of friends and relatives to mourn for her. Why God in his Providence should see fit to take from us one so valuable to her family, so true, so loyal to her Church and it's institution we are not to know now. But if we are faithful, we have the assurance we will know hereafter. Sister Stephenson was married to Mr. Stephenson in 1891 and was thirty years old. She professed a hope in Christ when about sixteen years old and joined Popular Springs Baptist Church. She lived a devoted Christian life. Always anxious to do all she could for God and her family. Her great desire was to live to raise her children right. But God knows best and called her home and when the summons came she was ready to go. Grieve not for her dear loved ones for you have every assurance that her prize is won. She called her husband to her a short time before she died, and asked him to raise her in his arms, asked for each dear child to be brought to her, and had some sweet words of consolation for them, kissed them all good bye, telling the children to obey Papa when Mama was gone, be good children and all meet her in Heaven. She know how desolate that home would be but the God she loved and served gave her grace and she knew he would sustain and comfort the husband and father. Oh! How sweet to know while we grieve for her she is at rest. No more sickness nor sorrow but all is brightness. May her gentle quiet life and Christian training lead her children in the path of right. And her prayer sent up to the throne of grace make Christian men and women of them. Only those who experience the loss of a dear good wife can know the depth of the husband's grief. May God's richest blessing rest upon him. May he be enabled to say "Not my will but Thins, O Lord be done". Dear Laura, how we miss you Fond memories say we must, But some day not far distant We will meet again I trust. By One Who Loved Her _______
