The greater destruction begun in Paulding county and passed on through Cobb near Acworth where it blowed down down (sic) several houses and injured a few persons. From there it came on to near Woodstock in this county at which place several houses, fences, etc were blown down. The telegraph line being down we are unable to get the full particulars but from what we can learn the barn and all out houses on George Fowlers (sic) placewere (sic) blown down, the out buildings of J. M. Mathews, S. G. Elrod, dwell and out buildings, Frank Bryan, col.. dwellin (sic) and all out houses including a chicken house with a fine lot of fowl. Dr E.E. Roberts houses (sic) partly destroyed. In fact everything in the track was more or less demolished and fencing strewn to the four winds. No one hurt so far as heard from. Passing from there it went on went on (sic) to Freemansville in Milton county where we next hear of it. There it blew down Boiling Springs church, the house of Garrison Cross and killed his wife, the dwelling of C. H. Maddox and killed Esquire W. I. Christain,(Christian?) and the house of William Grogan. Fences, timber, etc. were scattered in its track and perhaps other houses blown down but our informant did not know definitely of any other. From Milton county it passed into Forsyth county and blew down several houses, fences, timber etc, and crippled the family of Will Puckett. Here our information stopped. Esquire Christain is one of the best citizens of our county and happened to be at C. H. Maddox when the wind came and blew down the house and threw the chimney on him, killing him almost instantly. The nearest point to the track of the storm was about 8 miles south of Canton yet the rumbling noise could be audibly heard by our citizenswho (sic) atthe (sic) time were out upon the streets viewing the clouds and fearing that Canton lay in the track of another cyclone. It seems that these storms are getting more frequent and terrible. The one which passed through this county just five weeks since was the first and only one that has done any damage in the county. We are not out of reach of them, and those of our citizens who have pits, may console themselves over the fact that they can hide in them whether it may save them from the wind or not. We hope this may be the last. Additional Comments: There's a W. I. Christian in Cherokee Co., GA on 1880 census. 1880 Cherokee Co., GA Little River William I. Christian 59 Mary A.
