Friday 3 Dec 1886 P 3 December 3, 1886 The Methodist church at Little River caught on fire last Saturday from a defective flue, and when discovered, some four hours afterward, had burned along the ceiling some distance and two holes in the floor, directly under the ceiling, where the fire had dropped from above. The church is very close, but the fire was flaming on the floor and making pretty good headway when discovered. This is one of the best country churches in the county, costing $1,000 or more, and its burning would have been a great calamity to that section. Church trustees, and others, should be very careful and see to it that stove pipes and flues are safe.
