The Cherokee Advance 18 Mar 1887 P 3 March 18, 1887
Uncle Johnny Bibb, of Holly Springs had the misfortune last Sunday evening to 
lose his dwelling and out-houses by fire, together with his meat, cotton seed 
and almost everything in the house at the time, entailing a loss of some $700 or 
$800 upon. He and family were at dinner, when a little girl of Viney Boatman, 
who is living with him, looked up and saw the ceiling burning above them. The 
fire is supposed to have originated from a spark from the the (sic) chimney. 
There was no insurance. Uncle Johnnie is seventy odd years old and is in feeble 
health, and this loss falls very heavily upon him, since he has no house on his 
place comfortable enough for him to live in, and no relatives to whom he can go. 
The excitement prostrated him and he is very low. We hope he may speedily 
recover. The neighbors are kindly caring for him.
