The Cherokee Advance 20 Mar 1884 P 2 March 20, 1884
It is stated that their (sic) are 100 divorce suits now pending before the
Cherokee Superior court.--Jackson News.

Our esteemed contemporary has placed our county in a very erroneous position. 
Perhaps Clarke was what they intended to say, as we see it stated in other
papers that Clarke county has 100 divorce cases pending before her courts. 

Instead of there being 100 divorce cases now pending before our courts there is
not one-tenth that number--only 9, just 91 less than they would have the reading
public believe.  As a matter of news we give below, the names of the divorce
cases as they now appear upon the records of the court:
Fannie C. McElroy vs. Thos. McElroy.
John Howard vs. Adaline Howard
Delia Williams vs. John Williams.
Malinda N. Simms. vs. Louis A. Simms.
Wm W. Reed vs. Mary Reed.
Frank Heard vs. Mollie Heard.
Lucy I. Brown vs. Martin A. Brown.
Bethany Maddox vs Dan'l H. Maddox.
S. W. Beck vs. T. J. Beck.
