Mr. W. S. Howard and family left for Long View, Texas last Tuesday evening.  
It was with a considerable degree of sadness that we saw them board the 
train and leave all the many pleasant ties they have formed among us, and go 
to the "Lone Star State."  For eighteen years Mr. Howard had been in the 
employ of Hon. W. A. Teasley at this place; we deem it hardly necessary that 
we should say he was beliked by all and that his friends are numbered by the 
score--18 years with one man will attest this.  With all who know him we 
extend our best wishes for their safe arrival in Texas and trust that they 
may soon form pleasant associations there and become well pleased with the 
far west.  He goes there that his wife may be with her parents. At the 
Methodist Sunday school last Sunday morning the following resolution was 
offered by Capt. H.  . Newman (sic) and unanimously passed by a rising vote, 
which shows the esteem with which he was held by his fellow townsmen and 
friends. 

"Resolved--That we, the Methodist Sunday school, have learned with regrets 
that Bro. W. S. Howard and family are about to remove from anton (sic) to 
Texas and that while we regret to lose such efficient Sunday school workers 
we bid them Gad's (sic) speed, wish them well, and hope we will meet them on 
the 'other shore.'  We commend them to the care of Sunday school's every 
where. The secretary of this school is hereby requested to furnish Brother 
Steward Howard with a copy of the same."
