McAfee. Sams was bitten by a rattlesnake about two years ago, and since has been afflicted with something similar to St. Vitus dance, and unable to be still for even a moment at a time, except probably when he was sleeping. During the past six months he has grown worse, and though a large, stout, healthy man in every other respect, was, most likely unable to work, and refused to do anything in support of himself and family, consisting of a wife and two children. At times he was irritable and would do violence to his family, and on Monday, it is said, beat his wife considerably, and it was this that mainly caused his arrest for vagrancy. In his present physical and mental condition he has the sympathies of all. He ought, we think, be sent to the asylum, or to some good hospital, where proper medical aid could be given him, and in all probability he could be cured.
