Death

Died Sunday night last, at her home in Canton, Mrs. Mary Barton, wife of Rev. W.
J. Barton, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Speer of Campbell county. 

Her remains were carried to the home of her parents in Campbell.  Mrs. Barton
had the watchful care of her good mother and the solictous (sic) attention and
sympathy of her weeping husband, in her last hours on earth. 

Mrs. Barton was baptized into the Canton Baptist church in 1880, by Rev. J. A.
McMurry.  She was truly a pious woman who showed by her upright walk that she
"knew in whom she believed."  She left many friends mourning her loss.

How sad!  thus (sic) so soon taken away from her happy married life.  None but
the young husband can fully knew (sic) how sad.  Our deepest sympathy is with
him in this heart breaking trial. 

"God can temper the winds to the shorn lamb."
