Resolution

Read and adopted by the Canton Baptist church, April 8, 1882.
Whereas, The inscrutibility (sic) of Divine polity often mystifies our finite
understandings, in permitting the shafts of Death to strike down the purest and
best--and
Whereas, This mystery has been so pointedly illustrated in the late removal, of
our beloved sister Mary E. Barton.

Resolved 1, That knowing "The Judge of all the earth will do right" our grief
shall be subject to God's will; confident that all of our dear sister's
sufferings are gone and her perfect rest secure. 

Resolved 2nd.  That we cherish the memory of sister Barton, as a true woman and
faithful follower of Jesus. 

Resolved 3rd.  That the Canton Baptist church has sustained a loss, in the death
of our sister, that will long be felt in and but submissive hearts.

Resolved 4th, That this church extend our warmest sympathies to our dear Bro.
Barton in the irriparable (sic) loss of his affectionate young wife, and to the
bereaved parents on account of this broken link in the family chain--That we
offer our earnest prayer, for the preservation of the life and health of the
babe, so early made motherless, as a pledge of former union here, and a link in
the chain, binding the father on earth to the mother in heaven. 

Resolved 5th, That we mourn with her many friends in their sadness.

Resolved 6th. That the name of Sister Mary E. Barton be inscribed on a blank
page in our church book, together with these resolutions, a tribute to her memory. 

Resolved 7th, That the Advance be requested to publish these resolutions and
hand a copy to the husband and parents of the deceased sister.
